He was 15-1 on the morning-line and was sent off at 3-1. Terrible Ted ($8.20) was the subject of strong betting for Thursday's sixth race, a maiden special weight for California-breds at 6 1-2 furlongs.
Ridden confidently by Kent Desormeaux, Terrible Ted closed from the back of a field of eight to win by a half-length over 9-2 Red Envelope.
The second choice in the betting, Terrible Ted drew $32,346 of the $160,611 bet to win. The gelding races for owner Thomas Metzger, Sr., and trainer Hector Palma.
