Star Guitar, the all-time leading Louisiana-bred with $1.7 million in earnings, could have a big day at the races Saturday. Now a stallion, he has offspring in stakes from Saratoga to Louisiana Downs. Trainer Al Stall, Jr., conditioned Star Guitar for Brittlyn Stable.
"When you look at the entries, he's got an unbelievable cross-section of horses in," said Stall. "Star Guitar's really got a big day."
Stall noted Star Guitar is represented with runners on dirt, and turf and at one turn and two. His most significant entrant is Minit to Stardom in the Grade 1 Test at Saratoga, while he also has a host of runners in the Louisiana Cup stakes at Louisiana Downs.
Up first is Iona Guitar (5), the current favorite for the $60,000 Louisiana Cup Juvenile Fillies that goes at 3:15 p.m. Central at Louisiana Downs.
A number of the Star Guitar runners will go for the Brittlyn Stable that raced Star Guitar.
"[They're] running in stakes races up and down the country," Stall said. "[They've] got quite a bit of action. We'll see if things go our way."
