Mucho ($6.70) just rolled to a 9 3-4-length victory for Bill Mott and owners Adele Dilschneider and Claiborne Farm. For Mott, it was his second 2-year-old winner on the card. He won the off-the-turn 2nd with Casa Creed.
Mucho had finished second his debut on June 10 at Belmont Park, but the figure came back low (48 Beyer).
Still, he was hammered to 2-1 favoritism and didn't disappoint in what was supposed to be a pretty loaded maiden race.
Justice of War, trained by Asmussen, set the pace pressed by Fabulous Fun. Mucho sat right behind them.
Mucho rallied three wide under Jose Ortiz, who peaked underneath him at the top of the lane. Fabulous Fun faded in the final furlong. Fullness of Time rallied for second while Justice of War who was hanging on his left lead finished third.
Final time for six furlongs on a fast track was 1:10.19.
Mucho, like most of today's dirt winners, were on the outside part of the tracek in the stretch.
