Cambodia loves the Del Mar turf course. She won for the third time in five starts here on Saturday when defending her title in the Grade 2, $200,000 Yellow Ribbon Handicap, which she won by only three-quarters of a length last year but romped by 2 1/2 lengths this time.
Under Drayden Van Dyke, Cambodia raced three paths wide on the first turn while in the second flight of horses, remained outside into the far turn, cruised to the top without being asked and then bounded clear in the final furlong in the 1 1/16-mile grass race for older females.
Madame Stripes out-finished Sophie P by a head for second.
Cambodia was timed in 1:40.51.
Cambodia is trained by Tom Proctor. She is owned by Winter Quarters Farm. She has now won seven times in 18 starts. This was a far easier spot than her last two races. She was seventh in the Grade 1 Just A Game, and sixth in the Grade 1 Jenny Wiley, her only prior starts this year.
Cambodia, 6, is a daughter of War Front.
