Trainer Peter Miller has solidified his hold on the trainer's standings with two wins this afternoon, and 16 for the meeting. He leads closest pursuer Doug O'Neill by five.

Miller did not have a runner in the fourth race, and has one more chance at a hat trick. In the fifth race, a maiden claimer, he runs Angel Alessandra (7), who is the 5-2 second choice on the morning line in a maiden race at a mile on turf. 

Angel Allessandra was fifth in her debut in a maiden race at five furlongs on dirt on July 18. She broke slowly and closed from last in a field of 10 to finish 10 1-2 lengths behind Brill, the leading contender for the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante on Sept. 1.
