They don't have to be superstars but the pair of 2-year-old winners that Junior Alvarado just won with didn't come home very fast.
I asked Alvarado about the track after Sue's Fortune won the Grade 2 Adirondack in 1:19.83 for 6 1-2 furlongs, and he indicated the track was deeper in the stretch than on the backside.
"It seems like it's very fast on the backside but definitely fron the quarter pole to the wire horses are struggling to get home," said Alvarado, who also won race with with Unionzer, who ran seven furlongs in 1:26.29. "Their legs feel heavy at the end. It's more heavy than what it loks like."
