Wakefield, an undefeated 2-year-old coming off a win in a division of the Texas Thoroughbred Futurity, has drawn post seven in a field of seven for the $50,000 Evangeline Downs Princess next Saturday night, Aug. 25. The race closes out the meet in Opelousas, La. 

Timothy Thornton has the mount for owner Jerry Namy and trainer Karl Broberg. 

Wakefield was a debut winner of a May 24 maiden special weight at Lone Star Park, then came back to win the Texas Thoroughbred Futurity. He is a son of Munnings. 

Others set to start in the Evangeline Downs Prince include Victory Trip, who has placed in back-to-back stakes between Evangeline and Louisiana Downs. 

 The $50,000 Evangeline Downs Princess that was scheduled for the same card next Saturday night did not fill, according to officials with Evangeline.
