1) Piedi Bianchi 49-1
2) Eskimo Kisses 6-1
3) Midnight Bisou 9/5
4) She's a Julie 4-1
5) Auspicious Babe 32-1
6) Figarella's Queen 24-1
7) Coach Rocks 24-1
8) Talk Veuve to Me 9/2
You have to respect MIDNIGHT BISOU (3) in a spot like this, but I'd be lying if I said I was overly confident in her ability to stay ten-furlongs this afternoon (to be fair, I'm not overly confident in any of these fillies going this distance). At odds of 7/5 (15 MTP), I'll take a shot against her.
SHE'S A JULIE (4) is the other Steve Asmussen entrant in this year's Alabama, and she's where I landed. I've never been a fan of this filly, but you'd have a hard time finding a more visually impressive victory than her's in the Iowa Oaks; she was never asked to run a step and won by more than five lengths. From a speed figure standpoint, that Iowa Oaks puts her right there with Midnight Bisou and TALK VEUVE TO ME (8), and she's a much more appealing price. I'll play She's a Jule to win at odds of 4-1 or greater.
As for Talk Veuve to Me: there's a case to be made that she's actually the most naturally talented filly in this field, but she has to prove to me that this type of distance is within her scope. I've always viewed her as a one-turn type, and while she prevailed in the Indiana Oaks at 8.5 furlongs most recently, I'm still not convinced she's at her best going two turns.
