The 2-year-old filly A Bit Special ($19.80) was an explosive debut winner in the ninth race Sunday at Gulfstream Park.
She broke with the field and the speed went on as she settled near the back of the pack in the maiden special weight. A Bit Special then angled out in the stretch, and made a massive run down the middle of the track for a three-quarter length victory. She covered five-eighths on firm turf in 58.03 seconds for trainer Patrick Biancone.
A Bit Special is a daughter of Mukhadram, a Group 1 winner of $1.2 million. Her dam, Euro Empire, was a multiple stakes winner at 2 who also placed in a pair of Grade 1 races.
