Trainer Claudio Gonzalez and Jevian Toledo led their respective divisions at the Laurel Park summer meet, which concluded Sunday.
Gonzalez, a 41-year-old native of Chile, long ago clinched the training title. He won 23 races at the meet, eight more than runner-up Hamilton Smith, who won the final race of the meet to break a tie for second with Dale Capuano.
The summer meet is Gonzalez's second title this year. He also topped the standings at the Laurel winter-spring meet, which ran from the first of the year to early May.
In all, Gonzalez has won seven Maryland meet titles. He was the winningest trainer on the Maryland Jockey Club circuit in 2017 with 84 wins.
Toledo and Feargal Lynch put battled atop the division the second half of the summer meet but Toledo inched away over the past week and won the title 31 to 25 over Lynch, who was the leading rider at Pimlico this spring.
The summer meet title is the fifth in Maryland for Toledo, who was the leading jockey by wins in Maryland in both 2015 and 2017.
Toledo, who turns 24 Monday, has been riding in Maryland since 2013. He is represented by agent Marty Leonard.
