No one hit the early pick five Thursday at Golden Gate, opening day of the summer meet. A $25,418 carryover is up for grabs when racing resumes Friday.
The early pick five covers the first five races; takeout for the 50-cent bet is a relatively low 14 percent. Based on the carryover-divided-by-takeout formula, new money into Friday’s early pick five should be about $180,000. If less than that amount is wagered, it creates “positive expectation.” More money would be paid to winning bettors than is actually wagered into the Friday pool.
Golden Gate past performances for Friday are available at drf.com. The early pick five includes three maiden-claiming races, one N2L claiming sprint and a $12.5k claiming turf route. First post Friday is 1:45 PT.
