Odds-on favorite Beyond Blame slipped inside the fading pace-setter at the head of the far turn, turned back a challenge from 45-1 shot High Tech at the eighth pole, and pulled away late to win the $200,000 Indiana Grand Stakes by about 2 1/4 lengths Wednesday.
Beyond Blame paid $3.60 to win but longshots filled out the rest of the frame. High Tech held second with 14-1 Beach Waltz third and 32-1 Drinks On Me fourth. Beyond Blame ran one mile on good turf in 1:35.65 off a half-mile split of 47.15.
Florent Geroux rode Beyond Blame for trainer Brad Cox, who trains the filly for her breeder, Pop-A-Top LLC. Beyond Blame is by Blame out of Frippery by Forest Wildcat.
