Valiant Rogue value play in Refrigerator Stakes on Saturday night at Lone Star Park

Valiant Rogue will shake Quarter Horse racing’s reigning world champion, Jessies First Down, when he runs in Saturday night’s Grade 1, $75,000 Refrigerator at Lone Star Park. He hooked that rival last month, finishing a credible fourth to Jessies First Down in the Grade 1 Fall Championship at the Downs at Albuquerque.

The Refrigerator is a 440-yard race for 3-year-olds and up. Valiant Rogue is listed at 12-1 on the morning line. For complete entries for the race: https://www.drf.com/race-entries/track/LS/country/USA/date/10-13-2018

Valiant Rogue, who was a Grade 2 winner in May at Remington Park, will break from post 4. He was beaten a length and a half in the Fall Championship after winning back-to-back allowances at Albuquerque in July. Aside from the good form, Valiant Rogue is appealing as one who is 2-for-4 on wet tracks. The surface was sloppy for morning works at Lone Star with rain a constant in North Texas on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Rodrigo Vallejo has the mount from post 4 for Wyok Ranch and trainer Jimmy Padgett, II.

There are a number of horses that bring win streaks into the Refrigerator:

*Super Sonic (1) will be looking for his third straight win off a pair of allowance victories in Louisiana.

*Sf Hot Pass (3) is looking for his third straight win off back-to-back stakes wins in Texas, a Grade 2 at Retama Park and a small stakes at Lone Star.

*Apollitical Scout (6) steps outside of the filly and mare ranks while looking for her fourth straight win. She launched her streak with a Grade 2 win in June at Remington Park, then won an allowance and a stakes at the Downs at Albuquerque.

*Financial Top (9) also is looking to make it four in a row, with his streak built at Evangeline, Delta Downs and Retama Park.

*Eye N Capo (8) does not bring a win streak into the race but is a perfect 2-for-2 at Lone Star. He won the Grade 2 Sam Houston Classic in May.
