In addition to the workout action at Churchill Down this morning - where Monomoy Girl worked, among others - some horses prepping for the Breeders' Cup took to the track at Keeneland.
Mom's On Strike, a longshot for the Filly and Mare Turf, went a half-mile in 49 3/5 seconds for trainer Joe Sharp, and Limousine Liberal went five furlongs in 1:00 2/5 for trainer Ben Colebrook. The latter is under consideration for the Sprint and Dirt Mile.
I suspect we will see Limousine Liberal in the Sprint, being accustomed to running six or seven furlongs, and with the $2 Million Sprint offering double the purse of the $1 Million Dirt Mile - though horsemen like to keep their options open this far out.
Other possible Breeders' Cup horses that worked at Keeneland on Saturday included Signalman and Salvator Mundi, who breezed five furlongs in company in 1:00 1/5 for trainer Kenny McPeek. McPeek intends to pre-enter Signalman in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Sallvator Mundi in the Juvenile Turf.
