The $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf is once again popular with owners and trainers throughout North America and Europe.
Wednesday, the Breeders' Cup announced that 19 fillies were pre-entered for the one-mile race. The group is led by the American stakes winners Newspaperofrecord and Concrete Rose, both unbeaten in two starts, and the Irish-based filly Just Wonderful, a stakes winner in England last month.
Only 14 fillies will start, with five candidates placed on an also-eligible list by a committee of racing officials.
The other North American-based hopefuls are Belle Laura, My Gal Betty, Pakhet, Summering and Varenka.
The European group includes East, Hermosa, La Pelosa, Lily’s Candle, So Perfect and The Mackem Bullet. So Perfect is cros-entered in the Juvenile Turf Sprint, with that race listed as the filly's first preference.
If So Perfect does not run in the Juvenile Fillies Turf, Stellar Agent would gain a berth from the also-eligible list. The other on the also-eligible list are Lady Prancealot, Pivottina, Princess Carolina and Winning Envelope.
