DeShawn Parker suffered a punctured lung when he went down in a spill Wednesday, Oct. 19 at Indiana Grand. Parker initially had appeared to escape injury in the one-horse accident but the problem was detected Friday, according to his agent, Jimmy McNerny and Parker was admitted to a hospital to have his lung reinflated. Parker was off mounts on which he was named Tuesday and Wednesday at Indiana Grand and won't ride this week. McNerny said Parker was scheduled for a doctor's visit on Monday, Oct. 29, and if cleared would try to ride the Tuesday card at Indiana Grand. During his two days off this week Parker, who had been leading rider at the ongoing meet, was passed in the jockey standings by Rodney Prescott. Entering Friday's card, Prescott had 107 winners to 104 for Parker and 102 for Marcelino Pedroza.
