BC Juvenile contender Code of Honor was one of five of approximately 25 Breeders' Cup pre-entrants that are going to put in workouts this morning at Belmont Park.
With a nor'easter on the way tonight into tomorrow, trainers are moving up their workouts to this morning, which is clear and cold.
Code of Honor (Juvenile) went a good-looking five furlongs in 1:00.64 under John Velazquez, getting his final quarter in 23.40 seconds while galloping out six furlongs in 1:12.99 and seven furlongs in 1:26.49.
Also working over the main early were Verve's Tale (Distaff), who went five furlongs in 1:01.02 by herself over the main track. Disco Partner (Turf Sprint) went a half-mile in 50.76 seconds under Joel Rosario.
Over on on the training track, Firenze Fire, with Irad Ortiz Jr. up, went a half-mile by himself in 49.63 seconds with a solid enough gallop out in 1:02.41.
Irad then came right back on Uncle Benny (Juvenile Turf), guiding him through a half-mile move in 50.00 outside of a stablemate.
After the renovation break we're going to get about a dozen Chad Brown-trained horses including several on the turf. Todd Pletcher will have four, including Opry and Smart Choice on the turf.
