Goren, bought for $1.1 million as a yearling at Saratoga in 2017, was the surprise winner of a maiden special weight race at 6 1-2 furlongs in Sunday's third race.

Ridden by apprentice jockey Heriberto Figueroa, Goren closed from off the pace to win by 4 1-2 lengths in 1:17.22. Goren ($45) had his third start on Sunday. Earlier this year, Goren was sixth in a dirt race on June 9 and last of 12 in a maiden race on turf at Del Mar on July 18, his most recent start prior to Sunday.
