Leading trainer Norm McKnight cracked the century mark in wins at the meet after posting a three-bagger last Sunday. His total of 101 is just 18 wins off the meet record, set by Mark Casse in 2011.
McKnight has contenders in three races tonight: Key Red off the claim in the third; the heavily-favored Court Battle in the seventh; and Bakersfield in the eighth.
The featured $100K Frost King, a seven-furlong stakes for Ontario-sired juveniles, is wide open. The tepid 3-1 favorite, Captain Handsome, rode a golden rail to victory in his lone outing. Krachenwagen was another good-looking debut winner, and Seguimi is turning back off a two-turn maiden triumph. The unbeaten Bourbon Stritta won the slowly-run Bull Page Stakes in his last outing.
Lots of rain this morning, but it looks dry and cloudy for this evening.
The Jackpot Hi 5 carryover is $40K.
