Imperial Hint will be a deserving favorite in the upcoming $2 million Breeders’ Cup Sprint, but this will be a way tougher assignment than what he’s faced in his las two starts in which he’s so looked so impressive.
He will have to defeat defending Sprint champion Roy H as well as horse-for-course Limousine Liberal in a race that will likely determine the champion male sprinter of 2018.
If you subscribe to the horse-for-course angle then Limousine Liberal is the play. He is 6-for-8 at Churchill and should get an excellent set up under Jose Ortiz.
There is ample speed in here with Distinctive B entered to keep Promises Fulfilled occupied and set it up for Roy H to come from just off the pace.
But a hot pace would help Limousine Liberal as well and he's drawn well in post 8.
Imperial Hint is 0 for 2 at Churchill but one race came at mile as a 3-year-old and the other came in the slop in the Grade 2 Churchill Downs going seven furlongs here earlier the year.
His last two wins have been eye-catching and if he repeats any of those he will be tough to beat.
A horse to throw in your exotics at a huge price is Always Sunshine, a horse who has repeatedly bounced back from poor efforts like his most recent one at Laurel.
