Front-runners won both turf events over the giving ground, while closers dominated on the Tapeta. The lone speed horse to prevail on the main track was Bold Script, who pressed slow fractions before drawing away for a 7 1/2-length triumph in the $225K Princess Elizabeth Stakes.
The 3-5 favorite, Tiz Breathtaking, rallied belatedly to lose second by a nose to longshot Lady Azalea in the PE. Pacesetter Malibu Dawn faded to fourth in her first two-turn excursion.
Gary Boulanger doubled up on Bold Script and Monastrell. He inherited the mount on the latter from Patrick Husbands, who was hurt while coming off Islay Inlet in the warmup before the fifth. Husbands was transported to hospital, and there's no word yet regarding the extent of his injuries.
The handle on the 11 races was $5.1 million.
The Jackpot Hi 5 carryover heading into Wednesday is $73K.
