Elsa, beaten in turf sprint stakes at Saratoga and Laurel, won her California debut in Saturday's Grade 3 Jimmy Durante Stakes at a mile for turf for 2-year-old fillies. Ridden by Joe Bravo, Elsa rallied four-wide to take the lead in the final furlong over pacesetter Courteous, who held second at 25-1.
Pivottina, the 2-1 favorite, closed from 11th to finish third in the field of 12.
Elsa,by Animal Kingdom, races for Sheikh Mohammed's Godolphin Racing and trainer Mike Stidham. This was her fourth start.
After winning a maiden special weight race at Laurel in July, Elsa was third in the Bolton Landing Stakes at Saratoga as the 6-5 favorite in August and was seventh in the Selima Stakes as the even-money favorite at Laurel on Sept. 22.
