Saturday Woodbine recap

After finishing a troubled eighth in the G2 Nearctic in October, Ademar Santos almost lost the mount on Ikerrin Road, but Alpine Stable stuck with him for his next two starts, and the hard-knocking gelding won both the prep and today's Kennedy Road Stakes under flawless rides from him.

Ikerrin Road's six-furlong Gmax time of 1:08.42 was just .37 off Pink Lloyd's synthetic track record. Trakus timed the G2 tilt in 1:08.76.

The disappointment in the Kennedy Road was odds-on favorite Yorkton, who faded to fourth after setting honest fractions. Call Me Wally was a commendable third after taking the long way home, finishing just a head behind Holding Gold, who saved ground.

The Trackus clocking for the nightcap (1:16.87) was about 4/5 faster than the official Gmax time for the 6 1/2-furlong event.

Jockeys Eurico Da Silva and Kazushi Kimura both doubled up, as did trainer Robert Tiller.

The handle was just over $4 million.

The Jackpot Hi 5 was won outright, returning $27K.
