A three-bagger today for leading rider Eurico Da Silva, including on Moonlit Promise, who won the G2 Bessarabian for the second year in a row. Her dam, Smart Surprise, won the race in 2008 for her trainer, Josie Carroll.
The important victory makes Moonlit Promise a contender for the Sovereign Award as champion female sprinter. Runner-up Silent Sonet should also get some votes. The last-place finish by G3 winner Code Warrior hindered her chances in the same category.
Front-runners won the first six races, before closers swept the final five events on the all-Tapeta card.
Leading trainer Norm McKnight's lone score came with the favored Fire for Effect in the 10th. He claimed 11th-race victor Real Dude, who got up on the last jump to beat $10K maidens.
The handle was $4.15 million.
The Jackpot Hi 5 carryover heading into Wednesday is nearly $6K.
