There is a strong wind from the west this afternoon, which will lead to stiff headwind for runners on the backstretch.
The headwind did not top Lady Mamba ($8.20) in the second race, a maiden special weight race for fillies and mares at 6 1-2 furlongs. She led throughout and won by 1 1-2 lengths over 7-5 favorite Gold Arrow.
On Monday's 10-race program, runners on the turf and dirt will face a headwind in eight of the race, if conditions persist.
The first and sixth races are on the hillside turf course where the headwind is not likely to be as pronounced.
