Jockey Kent Desormeaux is on the verge of his 6,000th win in North America. 

Saturday, the Hall of Fame jockey recorded win No. 5,999 on Rye in the Unusual Heat Turf Classic. Sunday, Desormeaux has four mounts on the 10-race program.

In the first race, Desormeaux rides X S Gold (9), a leading contender in an allowance race at a mile on turf. Later in the day, he rides Baby Ice (2) in the second, Eddie Haskell (3) in the eighth, and Jungle Warfare (5) in the 10th.
