There will not be live racing Thursday at Aqueduct due to a forecast that calls for extreme cold conditions, the New York Racing Association announced Wednesday.
Further, the tracks will be closed for training at both Aqueduct and Belmont Park.
The National Weather Service calls for a high temperature of 16 degrees in the New York Metropolitan area on Thursday with wind chills between minus-5 and minus-15 degrees. It is the third full-card cancellation at Aqueduct this month.
The cancellation of Thursday’s card means that the carryovers in both the pick-6 and late pick-5 will be offered on Friday. There is a $19,376 in the pick-6 and a carryover of $38,520 in the NYRA Bets pick-5. The pick-5 is restricted to those players who use a NYRA Bets wagering account or who play on-track or at an in-state simulcasting facility.
The forecast for Friday is for dry conditions with high temperatures in the low 20s but the winds will not be as harsh.
There are eight races Friday at Aqueduct. The pick-6 begins with race 3 (1:53 p.m. Eastern) and the pick-5 begins on race 4 (2:25 p.m. Eastern).
