Kaydetre, the only horse that owner and trainer David Randall has at the track, recorded an upset in Friday's first race, a maiden special weight race for fillies and mares.
Ridden by Brice Blanc, Kaydetre ($50.40) disputed the pace and held off 3-5 Gold Arrow in the one-mile race.
Kaydetre was Randall's first winner since 2012, a span of 13 starters. Kaydetre represents five of those starts. Kaydetre, 5, is a half-sister to Randall's most recent winner, Oulaoulala. Kaydetre and Oulaoulala are half-sisters.
Randall races as Ranch Runners, Ltd, with his wife, Vida.
