Anothertwistafate, the Northern California colt with three runaway wins on the synthetic surface at Golden Gate Fields including the El Camino Real Derby, will race on a dirt surface next out in a one-shot attempt to land a berth in the Kentucky Derby trainer Blaine Wright said Thursday.
“His next race is going to be on dirt, no matter what,” Wright said.
Wright and owner Peter Redekop are considering several dirt-surface options. A decision will be made after the colt resumes serious training following his emphatic El Camino Real Derby victory last weekend. Anothertwistafate earned a fees-paid berth to the Preakness Stakes by winning the El Camino Real Derby.
The seven-length victory was his third since he stretched out and moved to synthetic. He earned 10 Kentucky Derby points and currently is ranked 17th on the points list.
