Quite the way to start the day at Santa Anita, with last year's male turf champ, Stormy Liberal, in a classified allowance going five furlongs on turf.
Stormy Liberal was upset down the hill on Jan. 1 in the Joe Hernandez, his only start since winning the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint for the second straight year. That victory brought him the Eclipse Award as male turf champ. He is the only pure sprinter to ever win that title.
This will be his first start going five furlongs at Santa Anita, but he is 4 for 4 at the distance, including a pair of wins last summer at Del Mar.
He's an overwhelming favorite at at least 1-9 with 10 MTP
