A day after he was involved in a spill, jockey Tyler Baze won with his first mount on Saturday about Unbridled Ethos ($24.40) in the first race, a maiden special weight race for California-breds on the hillside turf course.
Unbridled Ethos finished a neck in front of 2-1 Sir Eddie in the field of six.
Baze was unseated from Hot American in Friday's final race when that horse suffered a fatal injury.
Baze has four mounts on Saturday. His next ride is Papa Turf (2) in the seventh race.
Through Saturday's first race, Baze has won 15 races at the meeting, good enough for 9th behind leader Joel Rosario, who has won 42 races.
