- I don't love the Fred W. Hooper runners as a whole, but if anyone deserves a mulligan, it's COPPER TOWN (7); he may or may not have hit his head on the gate prior to the last race, so that non-effort can be forgiven. He was pinched back at the start of the Cigar two starts back before making a solid mid-move and ultimately flattened, but it feels like his best might be better than anyone else's best in here - not surprisingly, he's the favorite
- To be honest, I don't know if QUIP (5) is good or not; there's not enough of a sample for me to make a call one way or the other, and the sample that we have is littered with horses that ultimately ended up being underwhelming
- PRINCE LUCKY (9) needs to improve a bit to contender here, but he has an incredible Formulator Fact in his corner...Pletcher, Past Five Years, Winner Last Out, 180+ Layoff: 25/51 (34 ITM), $2.83 ROI
- TALE OF SILENCE (1) took advantage of a hot pace when winning the Westchester last May at Belmont, but that field featured a four horse photo finish and the horses exiting that race have performed horribly
The incredible Formulator Fact coupled with not loving any of the horses exiting the Hooper led me to Prince Lucky. He'll need to step up a bit, but his is a Pletcher specialty and the price is right; he's 8-1 currently with (allegedly) 10 MTP.
