The quality of horses trainer Steve Asmussen and his owners have brought to Oaklawn for the 2019 meet has proven to be outstanding, and the trend continues Thursday with Principe Guilherme launching his season in the featured eighth race.
The optional $50,000 claiming sprint with allowance conditions will mark the horse's first start since running third to Audible in the $200,000 Cherokee Run on Nov. 3 at Churchill Downs. Ricardo Santana, Jr., has the mount for Three Chimneys Farm.
The main track is fast on an overcast afternoon in the 40s.
