Patternrecognition, the Grade 1 Cigar Mile winner who stopped and finished last of 12 in the Pegasus World Cup on Jan. 26 at Gulfstream Park, has been retired, his trainer, Chad Brown, said Friday morning at the Palm Meadows training center.
“He didn’t come out of the Pegasus the right way,” Brown said of the 6-year-old son of Adios Charlie. “We’re actively seeking stallion deals for him.”
Patternrecognition, owned by Seth Klarman and William Lawrence, won five times and was second five times in 12 starts. He is out of the High Cotton mare Almost a Valentine.
In addition to the Cigar Mile, Patternrecognition won the Grade 2 Kelso last fall at Belmont Park.
