HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Despite not making the lead down the backstretch as was widely expected, RECRUITING READY proved clearly best Saturday in the 40th running of the Grade 3, $100,000 Gulfstream Park Sprint on the Fountain of Youth undercard.
Ridden by Luis Saez for Sagamore Farm and trainer Stan Hough, Recruiting Ready angled outside at the half-mile pole and gradually got the best of QUIJOTE in winning by about 3 lengths. He paid $3 as the heavy favorite after finishing the six-furlong distance in 1:09.53 over a fast track.
The full order was 1-4-6-8-5.
The $2 exacta (1-4) paid $6.60, the $1 trifecta (1-4-6) returned $10.40, and the 10-cent superfecta (1-4-6-8) was worth $2.20
Jay Privman will have the full GP Sprint recap up before long on www.drf.com.
