Game Winner, the expected favorite in the Santa Anita Derby on Saturday, appeared set for a top effort with a six-furlong work in 1:13.40 on Monday morning over a main track that was producing slow times.

Game Winner, working inside his company, edged clear late under jockey Joe Talamo, who returned on Sunday from Dubai. Joel Rosario has the mount on Saturday.

"He's ready, huh?" trainer Bob Baffert remarked rhetorically after Game Winner finished his drill. "He's Hercules."
