Anothertwistafate has remained at Sunland Park in New Mexico following his runner-up finish in the Sunland Park Derby. He has 30 points, which trainer Blaine Wright fears might not be enough to make the field for the Kentucky Derby on May 4. Wright would prefer to go straight to the Kentucky Derby, but said he'll see how the points standings look after this weekend's preps and then decide if Anothertwistafate will run in either the Arkansas Derby or the Lexington.
"I feel like he doesn't need to run again, but our hands might be forced," Wright said Monday. "After this Saturday, we'll know what to do."
Wright said remaining at Sunland has worked out fine.
"It's a good place to be," he said. "We're halfway to Kentucky. It's a good place to stay. It's up in elevation. Good air. He hasn't missed a beat."
Wright said Anothertwistafate likely would have a workout at Sunland "sometime this week."
