Elate, who was nominated to both the Grade 1, $750,000 Apple Blossom Handicap and Grade 2, $750,000 Oaklawn Handicap for the upcoming Racing Festival of the South, will run in the Apple Blossom, trainer Bill Mott said Monday.
The Apple Blossom will be run Sunday at Oaklawn. Jose Ortiz has the mount, said Mott.
Elate is coming off a runner-up finish in the Grade 2 Azeri, an Oaklawn race that marked her first out since last August.
The Apple Blossom is for fillies and mares at a mile and a sixteenth, while the Oaklawn Handicap is a mile and an eighth race for 4-year-olds and up and it runs Saturday.
The $3.6 million Racing Festival of the South at Oaklawn starts Friday with the Grade 3, $500,000 Fantasy, a points race for the Kentucky Oaks.
