Improbable will add blinkers for the Grade 1, $1 million Arkansas Derby, said his trainer, Bob Baffert. The mile and an eighth race will be run Saturday at Oaklawn Park.
Entries for the Saturday card, which also will include the Oaklawn Handicap and Count Fleet Sprint Handicap, are to be taken today, Wednesday. The stakes are part of the annual Racing Festival of the South, which is a collection of six major stakes worth $3.6 million. The races are being carded from Friday through Sunday.
Improbable arrived Tuesday from his Southern California base. He is coming off a runner-up finish in the first division of the Grade 2, $750,000 Rebel on March 16 at Oaklawn.
There will be a ceremonial draw for the Arkansas Derby and it is open to the public. It will be held on the first floor of the grandstand and it begins at 12 noon Central.
