Break Even and Warrior’s Charge have turned in some strong recent races at Oaklawn for trainer Brad Cox.
Break Even ran her record to 3-for-3 with her win in the Purple Martin, a sprint stakes for 3-year-old fillies on March 30. She earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 94.
“She came out of it in good shape,” said Cox, who now has the Break Even based at Churchill Downs.
Cox said Saturday morning that she is being pointed for that track’s Eight Belles.
Warrior’s Charge won his second straight race at the Oaklawn meet on Friday, when he romped by six and a half lengths in an allowance route. He earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 97.
“Very impressive,” Cox said of the win Friday.
Cox said Warrior’s Charge could see stakes competition next, with plans being discussed with the horse’s owners. Cox said options for the 3-year-old include the Sir Barton at Pimlico and the Peter Pan at Belmont Park.
Warrior’s Charge is not nominated to the Triple Crown.
“We’ll give him plenty of time to recover from this race,” Cox said Saturday morning.
