Fonner Park on Tuesday announced its third purse increase of the meet. The Nebraska track is boosting all overnight purses 12 percent for entries taken this week, according to a press release. The new increase covers the final five dates of the meet that wraps May 4. 

Fonner increased overnight purses 10 percent starting with entries taken April 12 then boosted overnight purses an additional 15 percent starting with entries taken April 19. 

"We are extremely pleased to offer one final purse increase as we near the conclusion of our racing season,” Bruce Swihart, chief executive officer of Fonner, said in a press release. “The extended run of carryovers in the popular Dinsdale Pick 5 Jackpot wager generated significant mutuel handle that we are delighted to share. It is paramount for us to offer a balanced and impartial purse distribution to our dedicated horsemen.”

The centerpiece of the meet, the $75,000 Bosselman / Gus Fonner Stakes, is Saturday.
