Country House became the winner of the 145th Kentucky Derby Saturday before a crowd of 150,729 at Churchill Downs when Maximum Security, who crossed the wire first, was disqualified for interference leaving the final turn.
This marked the first disqualification for interference of an unofficial winner in Kentucky Derby history.
Maximum Security was placed 17th by the stewards.
The new order of finish vaulted Code of Honor into second, followed by Tacitus in third. Improbable moved into fourth and Game Winner was fifth.
Country House returned $132.40 as the official winner.
