In a slightly less controversial decision than their counterparts at Churchill Downs faced a few hours ago, the Santa Anita stewards disqualified winner Road Rager from first to second in Saturday's 10th race for drifting out in the stretch.
Road Rager (13-1) finished a nose in front of 2-1 favorite Hang a Star in a maiden special weight race at 5 1-2 furlongs. Road Rager, ridden by Aaron Gryder, led into the stretch and drifted out under urging, brushing with Hang a Star.
Stewards Grant Baker, Luis Jauregui and Kim Sawyer needed six minutes to reach their decision and did so in a majority decision. The stewards ruled the situation cost Hang a Star a chance at a better placing.
