Led by two optional claimers, Santa Anita has an eight-race program on Friday with good-sized fields.

The card drew fields of 8, 5, 8, 8, 9, 8, 8 and 9, which is higher than in recent weeks when entries have been difficult at times.

Two of Friday's races have also-eligible fields. A maiden special weight race for California-bred 2-year-olds at 4 1-2 furlongs drew a field of 12, but will have a safety limit of eight starters.

An optional claimer at five furlongs on turf drew a field of 10, but has a safety limit of nine starters since the temporary rails will be set 20 feet from the permanent rail.
