Lady Ninja ($7.40) fought off a sustained challenge fom 1-2 favorite Ce Ce to win an allowance race with a $40,000 claiming option in Saturday's sixth race.
Ridden by Flavien Prat, the 5-year-old Lady Ninja won by a neck, finishing 6 1-2 furlongs in 1:16.21, a solid time on a track that has not produced quick times in recent weeks.
Lady Ninja has won 6 of 19 starts. This was her third win in her last five starts, a sequence that includes a win in a $25,000 claimer on Dec. 30 and a $40,000 claimer on Feb. 22. She was claimed for $32,000 last September from trainer Michael McCarthy who trains the promising Ce Ce.
A 3-year-old, Ce Ce won her debut by 2 1-4 lengths in a maiden special weight race at six furlongs on April 11 for owner and trainer Bo Hirsch.
Ce Ce finished 9 1-2 lengths of third-place finisher Tapitha Bonita, a 16-1 chance in a field of six.
