Wood Memorial winner and Kentucky Derby third-place finisher Tacitus arrived at Belmont Park on Wednesday and he is scheduled to work Saturday morning as he points to an intended start in the Belmont Stakes on June 8.
At 5-1, Tacitus went off the third-betting choice in the Kentucky Derby. He was 16th, nine lengths back after the opening half-mile and ultimately finished fourth, beaten 3 1-4 lengths. He was elevated to third following the disqualification of Maximum Security from first.
Tacitus galloped Friday on the Belmont main track.
"He looks exactly the same as when he came in for the Wood," said Leana Willaford, Mott's Belmont Park-based assistant.
