Partly cloudy and pleasant for the 10-race card of Tapeta events. The weather is supposed to warm up dramatically tomorrow.
The G3 Selene Stakes goes as the third, and there are two Woodbine Oaks prospects among the five sophomore fillies, Bold Script and Preferred Guest. Last year's Canadian champion 2yo filly, Bold Script, the 4-5 morning line favorite, should sit a good trip pressing the pace set one of the Mark Casse-trained entrants drawn to her inside. Her trainer, Stu Simon, has already won two stakes at the meet.
Preferred Guest rallied for third when heavily favored in a seven-furlong OS allowance April 27. She won the minor South Ocean Stakes over the 1 1/16-mile distance of the Selene last November. Casse also entered the unbeaten Glorious Song Stakes winner Souper Charlotte and Martha Washington Stakes winner Power Gal.
The Jackpot Hi 5 carryover is $69K for the finale, a wide open $25K conditioned claimer scheduled for 6:19 p.m., about a half-hour before the Preakness.
