Sunday Woodbine preview

A suddenly hot day in Toronto, which could lead to some washed-out runners in the 10 Tapeta races. (Horses cannot be treated race-day here any more, which could exaggerate the problem).

All five 3yos in the seven-furlong Queenston Stakes are Queen's Plate eligible. Morning line favorite Souper Success won the six-furlong Woodstock Stakes three weeks ago after an ideal stalking trip, and should't mind the slight stretchout in distance.

Federal Law, the runner-up to Avie's Flatter in the Coronation Futurity, disappointed in two starts this year. Mark Casse-trained cutbacks often run big, and this son of Scat Daddy broke his maiden over seven furlongs in England before shipping across the pond.

With blinkers on, Corduroy Road figures to lead the way, with My Silencer in close proximity. The latter got away with setting soft fractions in a recent OS allowance score, in his first start for Casse.

Dun Drum is making his first start since taking the 1 1/16-mile Kingarvie Stakes for OS 2yos Dec. 1, and might need one. His regular rider, Emma-Jayne Wilson, won Saturday's G3 Selene on Power Gal.

The Jackpot Hi 5 carryover is $75K.
