There are two scratches on the 9-race card that begins at 1:45 p.m. Mountain.
Race 3: (5) True Thought
Race 7: (8) Rocket Plan
The $50,000 Journal, race 6, will go down in the history books as the first stakes race held at Century Mile. The 6-furlong dash for 3-year-olds and up shapes up as a battle between (4) Trooper John and (7) Born in a Breeze. Born in a Breeze edged Trooper John in an open allowance race On April 28, but it was Trooper John's first start since he won the Don Getty last July 21. He should move forward for trainer Tim Rycroft.
The $50,000 Jetset for fillies and mares is a wide-open event with a very suspect (2) Daz Lin Dawn listed as the 5-2 morning-line favorite. The Nancy Betts-trained daughter of Popular is looking for her first victory since she won the $100,000 British Columbia Oaks at Hastings in 2017.
(8) Raider, whose only loss in Alberta came at the hands of Escape Clause, could be dangerous from a stalking position. The Greg Tracy-trained 4-year-old will break from the outside post in the 8-horse field.
The track is fast.
