The machine that is Rushing Falls did it again on Belmont Stakes day, leading throughout to register a 2 1/4 length victory in the Grade 1 Just a Game under clever handling from jockey Javier Castellano. The victory was the eighth in nine career starts for Rushing Fall whose only setback came by a neck in the Grade 3 Edgewood at Churchill Downs 13 months earlier.
As expected, Rushing Fall went right to the lead, was carefully rated on the front end, repulsed a solid bid from Daddy Is a Legend around the second bend, edged clear again in early stretch and was never seriously threatened thereafter. Beau Recall rallied mildly to best the tiring Daddy Is a Legend by a head to finish second.
Rushing Fall, a 4-year-old daughter of More Than Ready, is trained by Chad Brown for e Five Racing. She completed a mile over a firm course in 1:31.67, just .44 seconds off the course record, and paid $3.40.
